PROJECTS

Title: Aerodrome/McKenzie Lane Revegetation Project
Program: One Billion Trees (Community Grants)
Description: Revegetate laneways across the Houlaghans Valley Catchment to act as a buffer against prevailing winds and revegetate recharge areas on four seperate saline sights. The project involves 20 landholders and will provide a native wildlife habitat, reduce salinity out breaks, demonstrate direct seeding and provide a reference for local landholders in their tree seeding programs.

Title: Houlaghans Valley ReVegetation of Saline Recharge and Discharge Areas
Program: National Landcare Program
Description: Saline ground water is discharging on low-lying areas of the property killing pastures and crops. Some higher land is also showing signs of high or perched saline water tables. Recharge areas are devoid of trees. A native treelot for farm forestry and several areas of native vegetation will be established on the lower discharge areas with tree lines and corridors on the higher recharge areas. Hill areas with shallow soil will be fenced out and revegetated with locally occurring native species. Lucerne pasture will be established on the higher recharge areas.
Funding: (2001/2002) $9,975
