Regional Landcare Facilitators initiative

Caring for our Country

Applicant guidelines now available

Funding will be provided under this initiative for organisations to employ a Landcare facilitator to provide, within a specific natural resource management (NRM) region, ongoing coordination and support for Landcare groups and networks of community volunteers working on and off-farm to encourage improved sustainable farm and land management practices and ecosystem services and landscape scale conservation.

Grants for community projects

Murrumbidgee CMA

The Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority is devolving Australian Government Caring for our Country funds to community groups for environmental work.

Called Murrumbidgee Community Partnerships the grants will provide
provide up to $10,000 for local community projects in the Murrumbidgee catchment.
Caring for our Country
There are 3 objectives for the grants:

  • To provide an opportunity and means for community groups to undertake small on-ground projects tackling important local NRM issues
  • To increase community confidence and ability to adopt natural resource management (NRM) and promote shared learning and decision making leading to greater community ownership of NRM in the catchment.
  • To assist community groups to move towards effective engagement in broader regional approaches to natural resource management.

Community Action Grants

Caring for our Country

Eligible community groups can apply for grants from $5,000 to $20,000 (GST exclusive) to take action to help protect and conserve Australia’s environment.

Eligible community groups include:

  • community groups involved in coastal rehabilitation, restoration and conservation
  • groups of farmers or land managers working on sustainable farming or improving natural resource management
  • Indigenous partnerships involved in protecting or improving the environment
  • community groups involved in biodiversity conservation, environmental protection or managing natural resources

Federal Government Volunteer Grants

On Friday 14 August 2009, the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, Senator the Hon Ursula Stephens, announced the opening of Volunteer Grants 2009.

Fish habitat action grants

Habitat Action Grants enable fishing clubs and individuals, community groups, local Councils and other community members to submit proposals for projects to enhance fish habitat including rivers, creeks, estuaries, wetlands and natural billabongs in NSW.
